Great projects succeed through better acoustic design.

Approval. Certainty. Projects that get built. We bring acoustics into your development from the first sketch — designing quieter, smarter and more cost-effective outcomes across Australia.

  • Quieter, compliant outcomes
  • Practical, cost-effective controls
  • Measured, defensible reporting

Why EcoAcoustics

We are not a report factory. We are recognised environmental acoustics experts with a defined methodology — one that turns acoustics from a late-stage compliance hurdle into a design advantage. The result is projects that win approval, hold up under scrutiny, and cost less to build.

Trusted by local governments across Australia and relied upon for more than 1,000 monitored events since 2009.

01 · Integrated Acoustic Design

Our philosophy

For decades, acoustics has been bolted on at the end as a compliance exercise. We don’t believe that’s how it should work. We build acoustic performance into the design from the very beginning.

Rather than asking how do we reduce the noise, we ask how can we achieve the same outcome through better design?

01

Design first. Acoustics always.

The best outcomes come when architecture, services and acoustics are developed together.

02

Understand before recommending.

Every noise source has a cause. We measure, model and observe before we treat.

03

Practical over expensive.

The objective is the most effective solution — rarely the largest one.

04

Design for people.

Acoustic engineering should support how a place is used, not compete with it.

The people

The faces of EcoAcoustics

The methodology is only as good as the people behind it. Our work is led by specialists who have spent their careers in the field.

The methodology in action

We model the physics, then design to it.

Move the receiver and add a barrier, and watch the level at the home respond the way the physics dictate — a simple picture of the principles behind the noise modelling we run on every project.

Distance to receiver50 m

Doubling the distance from a point source drops the level ~6 dB. A solid barrier breaking line-of-sight can give ~10 dB. Vegetation? Effectively nothing — we say it almost weekly.

03 · Case Studies

Smarter design, not more concrete

Car wash project
INDUSTRIAL

Smarter design instead of more concrete

  • Challenge: a NSW car wash proposed a second wash bay and longer hours.
  • Method: detailed acoustic noise modelling against the NSW Noise Policy for Industry.
  • Outcome: compliant without the suggested roof — simpler design, lower cost.
Timber mill
INDUSTRIAL

Practical controls at a working timber mill

  • Challenge: plant and process noise from an operating mill near sensitive receivers.
  • Method: source-by-source measurement and assessment under the Noise Policy for Industry.
  • Outcome: targeted controls achieved compliance without halting production.
Resources operation
RESOURCES

Keeping a resources operation compliant

  • Challenge: mobile plant and haulage noise reaching distant sensitive receivers.
  • Method: attended and unattended monitoring with 3D acoustic noise modelling.
  • Outcome: practical operational controls kept the site compliant and productive.
