These terms govern your use of the EcoAcoustics website. By using this site you accept them. If you do not accept them, please do not use the site.

These terms cover the website only. Consulting work we carry out for clients is governed by a separate written proposal, fee agreement, or terms of engagement. Where those documents conflict with these terms, those documents prevail for that engagement.

Information on this site is general, not advice

The content on this website — including guidance articles, the Knowledge Centre, worked examples, and explanatory graphics — is general information about acoustics and noise assessment. It is not acoustic, engineering, planning, or legal advice for any particular site, project, or set of circumstances.

Noise outcomes depend on the source, the distance, the terrain, the ground, the weather, the receiver, and the criteria that apply in your jurisdiction. Do not rely on general information published here in place of a site-specific assessment. If you need advice for a project, engage us or another suitably qualified acoustic consultant.

Online calculators and tools

This site provides calculators, including the Decibel Addition Calculator and the Distance Attenuation Calculator.

These tools are provided for education and quick estimation. They use simplified models and standard assumptions that will not hold on every site. Results are indicative only, are not a substitute for measurement or modelling, and must not be used as the basis for a design decision, a compliance claim, a regulatory submission, or any representation to a council or approval authority.

We do not warrant that the results produced by these tools are accurate or fit for any particular purpose, and we accept no liability for decisions made in reliance on them.

Intellectual property

All content on this site — text, graphics, diagrams, charts, photographs, logos, and the EcoAcoustics name and marks — is owned by or licensed to EcoAcoustics Pty Ltd and is protected by copyright.

You may view, download, and print pages for your own personal or internal business use. You may quote short extracts if you attribute them to EcoAcoustics and link to the source page.

You may not, without our written permission:

  • reproduce or republish substantial portions of this site;
  • use our content in a commercial product, report, or service offering;
  • use our graphics or diagrams in your own publications or presentations;
  • use our name, logo, or marks in a way that suggests association or endorsement;
  • systematically scrape or harvest content from the site.

Reports we prepare for clients remain subject to the copyright and reliance terms set out in the report and in the engagement documents for that project.
