Road Traffic Noise Assessments

Road and rail noise modelling for development near busy corridors, with practical building design advice, not just a number.

Overview

Development near a busy road or rail corridor must show future occupants will be adequately protected from traffic noise. We model current and future traffic volumes, predict noise levels at each facade, and translate the result into practical building and glazing advice.

Who this is for

Residential and mixed-use developers, architects and planners working on sites affected, or potentially affected, by road or rail traffic noise.

When it is required

Commonly triggered by state planning policy (such as SPP 5.4 in Western Australia) for residential development within a defined distance of a major road, freight rail line, or freeway.

Our approach

We model realistic future traffic volumes, not just current counts, so the design holds up over the life of the building. Where feasible, we look at layout and orientation before defaulting to heavier glazing specifications.

What you’ll receive

  • Traffic and rail noise modelling to relevant standards
  • Facade-by-facade predicted noise levels
  • Building design and glazing recommendations
  • A compliance report ready for your DA

Talk to us

Send the brief, the drawings, or just the problem — we will come back with a clear, fixed-scope proposal.

Site affected by road or rail noise?

Send us the traffic data (or we will source it) and the drawings, we will scope a fixed proposal.
