EcoAcoustics Pty Ltd (“EcoAcoustics”, “we”, “us”) respects your privacy. This policy explains what personal information we collect through this website and in the course of our acoustic consulting work, how we use it, and how you can access or correct it.

We handle personal information in accordance with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs).

What we collect

Information you give us directly. When you contact us, request a proposal, or engage us for a project, we may collect your name, email address, phone number, employer or organisation, postal or site address, and any details you include in your enquiry or project brief.

Information collected automatically. When you visit this website, our hosting provider and analytics tools may record your IP address, browser type and version, device type, pages viewed, time spent on pages, and the referring website. We use Google Analytics.

Cookies. This site uses cookies — small files stored by your browser. We use them to keep the site working correctly and to understand how the site is used. You can block or delete cookies through your browser settings, though some parts of the site may not work as intended if you do.

Project information. In the course of noise assessments we may collect site addresses, measurement data, photographs, and the contact details of clients, council officers, and other project stakeholders.

We do not collect sensitive information (such as health or biometric information) and we do not knowingly collect information from children.

Why we collect it

We use personal information to:

  • respond to enquiries and prepare proposals;
  • deliver acoustic consulting services, including noise assessments, reports, and expert witness work;
  • invoice clients and manage our accounts;
  • communicate about projects in progress;
  • maintain and improve this website;
  • meet our legal, professional, and record-keeping obligations.

We do not sell personal information. We do not use your details for marketing unless you have asked to hear from us, and every marketing email includes an unsubscribe link.

Who we share it with

We may disclose personal information to:

  • Service providers who help us operate — Ventra IP website hosting, Microsoft Office email, Google analytics, and Xero accounting software.
  • Project parties where disclosure is necessary to deliver the work — for example, when a report naming a client contact is submitted to a local council or regulator, or shared with an architect, builder, or planner on the project team.
  • Courts, tribunals, and regulators where we are required by law to do so, including in expert witness engagements.

Some of these providers store data on servers outside Australia. Where that occurs we take reasonable steps to ensure the recipient handles the information consistently with the APPs.

Reports and public documents

Acoustic reports prepared for development applications frequently become public documents when lodged with a council or planning authority. If you provide information for inclusion in a report, be aware that the report may be published by the authority as part of the public assessment process.

Storage and security

We store personal information in cloud-based systems protected by access controls and passwords, and in physical files where required. We take reasonable steps to protect information from misuse, loss, and unauthorised access, but no method of transmission or storage is completely secure.

We retain project records for as long as needed to deliver our services and to meet our professional and legal obligations — typically at least seven years after a project concludes, and longer where a report may be relied on in a planning or legal process.

Accessing and correcting your information

You can ask us what personal information we hold about you, and ask us to correct it if it is wrong. Email info@ecoacoustics.com.au with your request. We will respond within a reasonable period, usually 30 days. There is no fee for making a request, though we may charge a reasonable cost for supplying the information in some circumstances.

If you would like us to delete information we hold about you, tell us and we will do so unless we are required to keep it for legal, professional, or record-keeping reasons.

Complaints

If you think we have mishandled your personal information, contact us at info@ecoacoustics.com.au and we will investigate and respond.

If you are not satisfied with our response, you can complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) at oaic.gov.au or on 1300 363 992.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The current version is always available at this page, with the date of the last update shown at the top.
