Overview
State Planning Policy 5.4 sets out when a road or rail traffic noise assessment is required for new residential development, and the noise levels new dwellings must be designed to achieve at each facade.
Who this applies to
Developers and architects proposing residential or mixed-use development within the policy’s trigger distance of a major road, freight rail line or freeway.
When it is relevant
Assessed at the development application stage, using both current and forecast future traffic volumes for the corridor.
